PRINCE GEORGE’S CO. – The driver of a MetroAccess van was arrested after, police say, he sexually assaulted an intellectually disabled passenger aboard the van.

Metro Transit Police say 40-year-old Deymon Childs, of Suitland, is an employee of First Transit, which operates MetroAccess service under contract for Metro.

Police say Childs picked up the victim at a scheduled location in Prince George’s County Monday afternoon and was supposed to drive her to her home.

The sexual assault happened while the victim was aboard the vehicle.

Metro Transit Police say Childs committed unwanted sexual acts in the rear of the van. Investigators say the assault happened along the side of Brightseat Road in Hyattsville.

Childs and the victim were alone in the vehicle during the incident.

Crime scene technicians processed the van for available evidence.

Police say they arrested Childs Wednesday night and charged him with third degree sex offense and second degree assault.
