On June 19, 1865, news broke in Galveston, Texas that slavery was officially ending in the United States.  Now, every June 19th we celebrate this mark of freedom with the holiday “Juneteenth.”

DCW50 celebrated this holiday early on June 16, 2018 at Watkins Regional Park in Upper Marlborough, MD.  We had a blast partnering with Prince George’s County Parks & Recreation Department for this celebration filled with music, dancing, food, history, and poetry.

We hope you enjoyed our “News at 10P” & “Black Lightning” balloons and giveaways.  Our “News at 10” anchors, Candace Burns and Rob Desir,  enjoyed signing autographs and meeting everyone.  The Flash and Supergirl also loved taking photos with everyone and can’t wait for you to share your photo on social media with @DCW50.

Thanks for a great day!  Enjoy the photos from the event!
