CHARLES CO. – Two men are dead after a boating accident on the Potomac River in Charles County, police say.

Maryland Natural Resources Police said they were searching for two Montgomery County men who went missing in the river Saturday night.

Their boat was found empty and turning in circles near Cobb Island.

On Sunday morning, police say divers recovered two bodies from the river.

The victims were identified by police as 47-year-old Eriberto Ferrufino and 43-year-old Franklin Ferrufino, both of Silver Spring.

Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.

There have now been nine boating fatalities in Maryland this year, tying the total number of fatalities for all of last year.

Police say none of the victims were wearing a life jacket.
