WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Capitals are taking home the Stanley Cup for the first time in franchise history.

The Caps beat the Las Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 during game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

That put the series at 4-1.

The Caps were down by a goal entering the third period before a comeback to finish off the team's 43rd season in the NHL with its first ever league championship.

June 7, 2018 will live on as a monumental day in D.C. history!
