2-year-old dies in Hagerstown house fire

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – A 2-year-old girl died in a house fire in Hagerstown, Maryland early Sunday morning, fire officials say.

Firefighters responded to the one-story home at the 15800 block of Shinham Road just after 1 a.m.

Upon arrival, officials say firefighters found three adults outside the home who said the 2-year-old was still inside and possibly in the basement, where the fire originated.

Firefighters entered the home, rescued the toddler, and immediately transported her to a hospital.

Officials say the child was was pronounced dead after life saving measures failed.
