STAFFORD CO. – Two 19-year-old’s were arrested for stealing a vehicle with a dog inside from a Wawa parking lot, deputies say.

Deputies responded to the Wawa on Garrisonville Road on May 23 for the report of a larceny.

Officials say Kelvin Brown and Davante Elijah, both of the Hampton Roads area, stole a car that belonged to a veterinarian.

The veterinarian told deputies that a customer’s dog was inside the vehicle along with several personal belongings like her wallet and social security card.

Virginia State Police reviewed surveillance video and found the suspects travelling northbound on I-95.

Deputies say a chase began and Brown and Elijah were arrested after they crashed the vehicle.

The dog ran away from the scene but was later located, and the owner was notified.

Brown and Elijah are charged with grand larceny, larceny of animals, credit card theft, and conspiracy.
