FAIRFAX CO. – The body of a swimmer who drowned in a lake in Reston was recovered Monday afternoon, police say.

45-year-old Kevin Ruby was competing in a swim race at Lake Audubon Sunday morning when, police say, he apparently drowned.

Officials say a concerned family member called police after not hearing from Ruby for over an hour.

Officers say that Ruby was never seen finishing the race.

Police started a search at the lake on Sunday that carried over into Monday. Police say Ruby’s body was found Monday around 2 p.m.
