MONTGOMERY CO. - A man was killed while delivering a pizza in Burtonsville, Maryland on Monday night, police say.

45-year-old Francesco Digiovanni, of Rockville, was working as a pizza delivery driver for Dominos around 11:15 p.m., when police say they were called to the area of Aldora Circle for the sound of gunshots.

Police say they found Digiovanni inside a vehicle with trauma to his upper body a few blocks down the road.

They believe he was shot while driving, and continued to drive until he lost consciousness.

Rescue crew attempted life-saving measures, but police say Digiovanni died at the scene from his injuries.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy to determine the manner and cause of the victim’s death.

"He was a terrific guy, team member that everybody loved, fun, happy-go-lucky," says Ed Treacy, Franchisee of the Burtonsville Domino's, which closed for the day on Tuesday. "We have no idea why this happened."

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call police at 240-773-5070.
