Man, woman dead in SE, D.C. shooting

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A man and a woman are dead after being shot in Southeast , D.C. Thursday, police say.

Police say two cars were travelling on 1st Street toward Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue when one white Sedan pulled up beside the other car.

Chief Newsham, says one male in the white Sedan got outside the window of the other vehicle and open fired on the vehicle.

The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say this incident appears to be a targeted attack.

One of the cars appeared to be a rideshare vehicle, but police are unable to confirm which company at this time.

“We have way too much gun violence in this city, and that’s one of the things we are targeting as a police department,” said Chief Newsham.
