ALEXANDRIA, Va. – An Alexandria woman says she’s out $12,000 after hiring a contractor to work on her basement.

Now, police say that man has been arrested.

Peyman Gheitanchi posted several ads on Craigslist saying his name was John.

Karyn Kazimer used years worth of savings to pay him $6,000 as a security deposit and another $6,000 once the work on her home began.

However, Gheitanchi never returned after that to work.

Police say the man was arrested and is facing several charges including grand larceny and false advertising.

Gheitanchi will appear in court May 8.
