UPDATE: Arlington Police arrest suspect for attempted rape
ARLINGTON CO. – Arlington County Police say they arrested the suspect Saturday in connection to an attempted sexual assault in Arlington Mill Friday.
Jermaine Johnson is charged with attempted rape and burglary, police say.
While police were conducting surveillance in the 1700 block of N. Troy Street, they say officers observed Johnson flee a residence. Officers then arrested him.
ORIGINAL: Police responded to the 800 block of S. Frederick Street around 9:05 a.m. for the report of an assault.
Police say a man broke into a home, brandished a knife, and attempted to sexually assault a female. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.
The victim suffered minor physical injuries and was transported to a hospital, police say.
Police describe the suspect as a black male, 20-30 years-old, approximately 5’7″, and having short cropped hair. He was wearing a black shirt and black jeans at the time of the incident.
After searching the area and talking to possible witnesses, police say they were unable to track down the suspect.
