Teen rescued from Potomac River before nearly drowning
WASHINGTON, D.C. – A Virginia teen was rescued after nearly drowning in the Potomac River south of Rocky Island Sunday, officials say.
The swimmer, identified as a teen male, intentionally entered the water, which is prohibited due to the dangerous conditions. Officials say the teen was swept under and carried downstream about a mile.
Rescue crews found the young man injured on rocks along the Virginia shoreline.
The teen was transported to a hospital and is in serious condition, officials say.
