FAIRFAX, Va. - The Fairfax City Fire Department says a woman died in a fire at the Lee High Inn motel along Fairfax Boulevard on Thursday morning.

Officials say they found Megan Shuman, 35, of Sterling, deceased inside a motel room where they believe the fire started.

Fire officials say units arrived on the scene at 7:27 a.m. to find heavy smoke and fire showing from the one-story motel.

A second alarm was requested to bring additional resources to the scene.

The fire department says smoke detectors and hotel staff alerted and safely evacuated other near-by guests. No other injuries were reported.

The Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy on Friday.

The fire department says hotel management is working to relocate approximately 25 guests to other properties.

The origin and cause of the fire is still under investigation.
