Body found in burning car in Woodbridge

PRINCE WILLIAM CO. – A body was found inside a burning car in Woodbridge Thursday morning, police say.

Officers responded to a report of a vehicle on fire at the 14300 block of Vertans Drive around 7:50 a.m.

Fire crews located the vehicle fully engulfed by flames. Officials say when the fire was extinguished, fire crews located a body inside the vehicle and contacted police. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are currently investigating the cause of the victim’s death. The body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The victim’s identity is not known at this time.
