Woman shoots and kills boyfriend during argument

CHARLES CO. – A man is dead after his girlfriend shot him during an argument, police say.

Authorities say 31-year old Tiffany Jade Smith, of Walford, Maryland shot her 37-year-old  boyfriend, Tavon Purnell, of Walford, in the torso while they were arguing.

Police responded to the shooting at the 11700 block of Oak Manor Drive in Waldorf around 11:25 a.m. Purnell was taken to the hospital where he subsequently died, according to officials.

Smith was arrested and charged with first degree murder, police say.
