FAIRFAX CO. – Police have confirmed the identity of a body found laying in the street in Centreville as a 17-year-old boy.

Matthew Ortega, a student at Centreville High School, was pronounced dead Wednesday morning after police responded to a report of a body laying in the street, officials say.

Police confirmed that Ortega died from trauma to his upper body.

Police say they are still waiting for autopsy results and continue investigating the incident.

The Ortega family started a GoFundMe page to help raise money for funeral arrangements.

“We appreciate all the help we can get as to this was so unexpected that the family isn’t able to come up with all the expenses. Again we thank you in advance. God bless you all,” it says on the GoFundMe page.
