PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — A Prince William County Schools bus driver was hit and killed by another bus at the bus depot on Piney Branch Lane in Bristow. Richard Lee Profitt, 62, a veteran school bus driver with Prince William County for seven years happened to be at the rear of a bus that was backing out of the service area.

Prince William County police spokesman Sgt. Johnathan Perok says their investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident.

Some employees at the bus depot seemed visibly upset as they filed in and out of the facility.

“The individuals here have lost a friend, a colleague and a member of the family in some ways,” Phil Kavits, spokesman for Prince William County Schools said. “This is a situation where they have to continue doing their jobs in getting kids to and from school, so it’s very sad and difficult for them.”
