LITTLE ORLEANDS, MD., – Two Maryland State Police troopers and a suspect were shot during a barricade situation late Thursday night.

There are limited details at this time about what happened. According to a Press Release from the Maryland State Police, officers were dispatched to a domestic dispute in the 1100 block of High Germany Road. When they arrived the suspect was in the home and was engaged in an argument with his wife. His wife said he brandished a handgun and told her, “this ends today.”

The wife of the suspect said that a struggled ensued between them and they fell to the ground. As they fell, the gun reportedly fired. The wife was able to get out of the house and run to a neighbor to call the police.

Officers attempted to contact the suspect repeatedly via cell phone but he would not answer. The officers also tried using a loud speaker to talk to the suspect but ultimately he refused requests to surrender.

The STATE Team was deployed and two troopers were fired at by the suspect, sustaining minor wounds. Officers returned the fire, hitting the suspect. Once the officers entered the residence a fire was ignited by the suspect which was quickly put out.

Both officers were flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where they were reported to be conscious and alert. The suspect, who was taken to Washington County Medical Center was pronounced dead Friday morning.
