UPDATE: Two more arrested in case of man set on fire in Fairfax

ANNANDALE, Va – Two 15-year-olds are now facing attempted robbery and malicious wounding charges after setting a man on fire in Annandale. One of the teens was arrested last night, the other this morning.

They were both taken to the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center. This is in addition to a 14-year-old who was arrested and charged on Sunday. Detectives believe they have now arrested all the suspects involved in this case. At this point, they do not believe this incident is gang related.

ANNANDALE, Va. – Residents were in disbelief after Fairfax police said about six males in their late teens to early 20s attacked a man next to an apartment building in the Avant Apartments complex just before 3:00 Sunday afternoon.

“They were able to apprehend two of the five to six suspects. Those two are currently being detained and being interviewed by our detectives. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”, said Fairfax Lieutenant Ely Corey.

Left at the scene was a burned bag and clothing.
Many residents said the victim may have been homeless.

The incident came as a surprise for many who say security is top notch in the complex.

“We have security right over there by the apartment complex over there, so we’re quite relaxed.”, said four year resident, Eugene Abbey.

The Suspects could face aggravated malicious wounding charges.
The victim is expected to be ok.

Residents have also said that gang activity is a problem in the area.
Police have not confirmed whether that is the case in this incident.
