LOUDOUN CO. – A Sterling man has been sentenced to twenty years in prison for rape, officials say.

Marvin Otero, 44, appeared in court Wednesday before Judge Gaylord L Finch, Jr. in Loudoun County Circuit Court for sentencing on one count rape, according to Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.

In the early morning hours of February 26, 2017, the victim and Ortero went to a club in Maryland with other individuals. Around 3 a.m., the victim and Ortero were dropped off at Otero’s vehicle in a Sterling parking lot.

Inside the vehicle, Otero threatened, strangled, and sexually assaulted the victim. After several hours went by, Otero let the victim out of his vehicle which is when she contacted police.

Otero pleaded guilty to one count of rape on August 27, 2017.

Upon his release, Otero will be placed on three years of post-release supervision.

Because Otero is a native of El Salvador, he may be subject to a Federal Immigration Detainer which would remove him from the United States upon his release, the Attorney’s Office says.
