Dog recovers after being found barely alive

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. – Fairfax County Police say it’s been just over a month since they found “Max,” who was emaciated, lethargic, unable to stand alone or even hold up his head. Officials said the dog would not likely survive. Now, though, police say the dog has recovered.

Officials say the 1-year-old black retriever now weighs  over 45 pounds and is a happy, playful and friendly dog. He is currently in medical foster care and is not available for adoption.

Now, Animal Protection Police are asking for your help. They are trying to locate the dog’s owner, and ask that if you recognize “Max,” to please contact Officer Enna Lu go at or 571-641-7434.
