PRINCE GEORGE’S CO. – A 44-year-old man was arrested Thursday after police found his ex-girlfriend dead inside their shared apartment on the 6400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Forestville, according to authorities.

Police say Willie Coleman Jr. is charged with second-degree murder of 38-year-old Sonya Harris. The victim and suspect had previously been in a relationship but still lived in the same apartment, officials say.

Police say they responded to the Pennsylvania Avenue apartment on December 30th at 5:00 p.m. Once on scene, they discovered Harris in her bedroom unresponsive. She was pronounced dead on the scene and transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore. An autopsy revealed the cause of death was asphyxiation and the manner of death was homicide.
Coleman is being held at the Prince George’s Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
