Dozens displaced after Suitland apartment fire
SUITLAND, MD. — The National Capital Region Red Cross said it is helping 32 people, including 11 children, find new homes after a fire Tuesday morning at a Suitland apartment complex.
It took around 100 firefighters to put out the two-alarm fire that happened at one of the apartments in the Carriage Hill complex in the 3400 block of Curtis Dr.
A Prince George’s County Fire Department (PGFD) spokesman said that two people had to be rescued from the building. He added that five people were treated for smoke inhalation, three of them were taken to the hospital. One firefighter was injured, but they returned to duty.
The fire caused an estimated $200,000 in damage.
A PGFD spokesman said 11 units have been affected by the fire.
The Red Cross said it is working the with Prince George’s County Fire and Police Departments to deliver gifts to the children of the affected units so that they have something to open on Christmas morning.
