POLICE: Man carrying an assault rifle robs DC store

WASHINGTON, DC — Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District seek the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in an Armed Robbery of a store that occurred on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, in the 2500 block of Benning Road, Northeast.

At approximately 3:52 am, an armed suspect entered the store. Once inside, the suspect demanded money.  The employee complied and the suspect fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a black male, in his late 20s, 6’ tall, thin build with a light complexion. He was wearing a dark coat, black scarf over his face and carrying a dark green backpack.

Anyone who has information regarding this case should call police at 202-727-9099.  Additionally, information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.  The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for an armed robbery committed in the District of Columbia.
