PRINCE GEORGE'S CO., MD. -- One of the main attractions at National Harbor is now being used to break the news to expectant parents about the gender of their baby.

Starting this past May, the Capital Wheel has been used for gender reveal parties, turning the LED lights on the side of the wheel pink or blue.

Melissa Norris, marketing coordinator for National Harbor, said the idea came from a colleague at MGM National Harbor who asked if it could be done.

"And when I heard that idea it was, no pun intended, but the lightbulb went off and I’m like, that’s brilliant. Yes, come on down," added Norris. She said since then, the wheel has been used over 30 times for that purpose. "Seeing the joy and excitement and these milestone moments, allowing us to be a part of that is second to none."
