Police arrest man for arson after fatal Seat Pleasant fire

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — A man has been arrested in connection with a fire on November 2 that killed two in Seat Pleasant.

Thomas Deal, 53, was arrested and charged with arson and two counts of first degree murder. Firefighters had responded to the blaze in the 6200 block of Foote Street around 5:30 a.m., and found the two victims dead. Fire investigators later came to the conclusion that the fire was intentional.

The victims were Gary Driver, 56, and Derrick McDowell, 51.

Investigators say they’ve found evidence linking Deal to the fire, but no motive has yet been established. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925.
