WASHINGTON, D.C. — The lottery to win tickets to the National Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony began today, and will close on Oct. 16.

Tickets for the event are free, but limited. There’s no charge for entering the lottery. The ceremony is held on The Ellipse park, south of the White House.

Entertainers and a U.S. military band will perform at the ceremony, which is traditionally attended by the President and First Lady.
