MONTGOMERY CO., Md. – The Montgomery County Police Department has arrested a karate instructor after they say he touched a 15-year-old girl inappropriately.

According to officials, 54-year-old Frank Yul Pugarita is an instructor at Pugarita Karate, located in Gaithersburg. Police say the victim was a karate student at the studio. Detectives began their investigation in June after receiving a report that Pugarita had inappropriate contact with the young girl. The victim told investigators that the touching occurred sometime between January and June during class.

Police say they arrested Pugarita on Monday and is currently being held without bond.

Investigators believe there could be other victims, so they are asking parents of karate students who may have had contact with Pugarita to talk to their children about their interactions with him. Those parents can contact the police at 240-773-5400 if they believe their child was a victim.
