ROCKVILLE, Md. – Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Cheryl McCally sentenced Roxann Bucchan-Straker on Friday for hitting a 95-year-old woman in her care.

Bucchan-Straker will serve one year in prison followed by three years probation after pleading guilty to one count of abuse of a vulnerable adult.

Charging documents show that the incident happened back on November 20, 2015 in the victim’s residence at the Springvale Nursing Home.

Prosecutors say a video recording, set up by the victim’s son, shows Bucchan-Straker hitting the 95-year-old woman with a cell phone four different times. At one point she tells the woman to eat her food.

The documents show Bucchan-Straker was hired to care for the victim’s daily needs.

Prosecutors say after Judge McCally handed down the sentence, Bucchan-Straker started screaming and became emotional and had to be escorted out of the courtroom by Sheriff’s deputies.
