PRINCE GEORGE’S CO., Md. – Fire officials say a man died in an early-morning house fire.

According to Prince George’s County Fire/EMS, just after 2:00 a.m., a neighbor called them about a house fire in Hillcrest Heights.

When crews arrived to the 1900 block of Callaway Street, they found a one-story home with fire showing from the basement.

Firefighters say they found excessive storage conditions throughout the structure and part of the kitchen collapsed into the basement as the fire was extinguished.

When crews did a detailed secondary search, they found a man deceased in the basement.

Fire Investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the fire.

Fire loss is estimated at $110,000.

Identification of the deceased is not yet available at this time, but neighbors say the man went to work every day and primarily kept to himself.
