WASHINGTON, D.C. — A man was arrested this morning after the Secret Service says he threw two objects over the White House north fence line.

The agency closed Pennsylvania Avenue and Lafayette Park to pedestrians for a few hours while they investigated. They took two people into custody, but ultimately only arrested one man, who was taken to the DC Police Department.

The items the agency says were thrown were a notebook and a sign, both deemed nonhazardous.
