Police arrest Fredericksburg man in girlfriend’s death

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Police have arrested a man after his girlfriend was found Saturday night suffering from a fatal gunshot wound inside a vehicle near Dixon Park.

Around 10 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to a call for shots fired and found Antoinette Beverly, 26, dead in the driver’s seat of a car that had struck a pole. She has suffered a fatal gunshot wound.

Police named Beverly’s boyfriend Cortez Mills, 34, a person of interest in the investigation of her death. He was taken into custody on Sunday night, and charged with second degree murder.

Mills is being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
