One dead, seven injured in Leesburg crash

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. — An Ashburn woman is dead, and four passengers in her car are in the hospital after a two-car crash on Evergreen Mills Road on Friday afternoon.

Erin Kaplan, 39, reportedly died at the scene after her station wagon was struck by a bus converted into a food truck. Police say the food truck ran a stop sign while traveling east on Watson Road. The crash happened around 4:50 p.m.

The driver of the food truck and two of their juvenile passengers were taken to the hospital, and later released. Four of Kaplan’s passengers, three of which were juveniles, were all airlifted to Inova Fairfax, where they remain hospitalized. One of the juveniles is in critical condition.

The crash is under investigation, and charges are pending review by the Commonwealth’s Attorney.
