PGCPS hosting drive to support Houston

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, the Prince George’s County school system plans to donate two thousand backpacks filled with supplies to the Houston Independent School District, and additionally hopes to help raise $132,000 for the HISD Foundation.

The $132,000 pledge goal (you can donate here) corresponds to a dollar for every PGCPS student. All the backpacks will go to the HISD through the Hearts With Houston Campaign.

PGCPS CEO Kevin Maxwell has challenged superintendents in neighboring Maryland school districts, as well as nationwide, to join the campaign to help Houston after the devastation the hurricane has caused.
