Tow truck driver fatally struck in Langley Park

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — A tow truck driver is dead, police say, after he was struck by a passing car yesterday while standing on the side of a road in Langley Park.

The accident happened around 10 a.m. on August 17th. Gilbert Kuncl, 58, was apparently standing next to his tow truck in the 8200 block of 15th Avenue. He was getting ready to tow a vehicle when he was hit.

The driver in the accident wasn’t hurt, and stayed on scene until first responders arrived and took Kuncl to the hospital in critical condition. Kuncl later died of his injuries.
