Fiery tractor trailer accident kills one

FREDERICK, Md. – Police say that one person was killed after a tractor trailer accident Friday morning.

According to the Maryland State Police, the accident happened Friday morning on I-70, near the Middletown rest area. Officers responded to reports of a tractor trailer on fire off the roadway in that area. When they arrived, police say the troopers saw the tractor trailer, as well as the surrounding woods, on fire.

Police say no occupants or witnesses were located outside of the vehicle. When the fire was extinguished, police confirmed there was one fatality.

The investigation into this incident is currently ongoing, and police say they do not know why the tractor trailer left the roadway. Anyone with information about this accident are asked to call the Frederick Barrack at 301-600-4150.
