UPDATE: DC police officer indicted on sex trafficking charges

BALTIMORE, MD – A federal grand jury indicted Chukwuemeka Ekwonna, age 28, of Glenn Dale, Maryland, on charges related to sex trafficking of minors and use of interstate commerce facilities to entice minors into engaging in prostitution.

Ekwonna faces a minimum of 10 years in prison and maximum of life in prison and a fine of $250,000. He is expected to appear in the U.S. District Court in Baltimore on August 11, 2017.

Ekwonna had been arrested at his home in the 7500 block of Lake Glen Drive in Glenn Dale, Md. by by the Anne Arundel County Police Department (AACOPD) for an incident they allege took place on January 9, 2017.

The MPD said Ekwonna had been a member of the department for 14 months and was assigned to the Second District.
