Dog stolen in Southeast recovered by police

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A stolen dog has been recovered after the person walking it was assaulted and robbed on August 3.

The dog, named Diva, was grabbed during the robbery in the 5200 block of Fitch Street, Southeast. The victim was walking three dogs when two suspects approached, assaulted the victim, took Diva and fled.

On Sunday, Tanisha Celestina John-Hope, 21, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property. The dog was recovered and taken to the Washington Human Society to be examined.
