UPDATE: Victim’s identity released in Silver Spring area homicide

SILVER SPRING, Md. – Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department are investigating a homicide that happened in Silver Spring on Wednesday night.

According to officials, emergency dispatchers received a call from someone living in the 1600 block of Belvedere Boulevard who reported that a person had broken into the home and shot someone inside. The caller also told the dispatcher that the suspect had fled after the shooting. Officers responded to the resident, police say. When they arrived, they found a man on the upper level of the home suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim, a resident of the home, is now being identified as Jon-Christian Kemachet-Webster, age 20.

At this time, police say the investigation into this case is ongoing.
