MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — Two men are behind bars today after police say they stole almost $22,000 worth of liquor from box trucks parked in front of the Department of Liquor Control warehouse in Gaithersburg.

The initial thefts, police say, took place on Febuary 14 and 24 of this year. Detectives claim a suspect entered the facility grounds by climbing over the perimeter fence when the DLC was closed, then broke into multiple trucks and stole boxes of alcohol.

Detectives say six additional thefts took place over the months of April and May. On May 28, security personnel at DLC reportedly saw a suspect on video surveillance and alerted police. A first district officer responded to the scene, and spotted a Chevrolet Suburban parked at the far corner of Lakelands Park Middle School basketball court.

The officer approached the driver, who police have identified as Jean Auguste, 27. The officer says he saw multiple boxes of alcohol in the vehicle.

Auguste was arrested by patrol officers and charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, and theft. Detectives then began to pursue Snowden Jr. as the suspect in the act of the burglary itself. Snowden Jr. was arrested on Wednesday, on charges of theft and malicious destruction of property.
