2 “Drain-O Bombs” found in Montgomery County park

MONTGOMERY CO., MD —  Two explosive devices were found two weeks ago along the Clarksburg Heights Trail in Little Seneca Greenway Stream Valley Park, according to the Maryland-National Capital Park Police.

Detectives say the devices were found on Tuesday, May 16, around 10:18 a.m.. According to police both plastic bottles were filled with water, drain cleanser, aluminum foil, this mixture creates hydrogen gas and generates a caustic explosion.

Maryland-National Capital Park Police and Montgomery County Police responded to the scene and confirmed the devices were explosives that had not been detonated.  Crews searched the area for additional devices but did not find any others.

The county’s fire department is helping in the investigation. Park Police warns that if anyone finds any other suspicious devices not to approach them and just call park police immediately at 301-949-3010.
