1 dead, 7 injured in shooting in Northwest

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Seven are injured and one dead after a shooting on Q Street, Northwest early Saturday morning.

Around 1 a.m., police responded to the sound of gunshots on 100 Q Street. There they found Algernon Jones, 32, of Southeast, dead of multiple gunshot wounds.

Police investigated further and found six men and one woman also suffering from gunshot wounds. They were all taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

"This kind of reckless disregard for human life won't be tolerated in DC," said Peter Newsham, Chief of Police. "To those responsible: we will find you and bring you to justice."

The MPD are looking for two suspects in this case. Both are described as black males wearing dark clothing who were last seen fleeing the scene in a black vehicle with tinted windows, heading eastbound on Q Street.

As with all homicides in the District, the MPD offers a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case. Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099.
