WASHINGTON DC– Rain hasn’t been kind to Nationals fans this week but that didn’t stop the team from inviting DC Public Schools teachers and students to the ballpark Tuesday.

The organization honored school kids in several different ways including allowing baseball players from DC area schools to watch batting practice and present the lineup cards to the umpires.

Other students who also stood out in the classroom throughout the year got to walk away with special memories including four students who sang the national anthem before the game, a pair of broadcasting students were able to interview a Nationals player before the game, and about one dozen students with the district’s STEM program were recognized as outstanding math and science scholars. A principal was also recognized for her outstanding work.
