MANASSAS, Va. -- Neighbors say they saw a fire in the garage of this home on Nash Lane, but before they could do anything and before firefighters could arrive, it was already out of control.

The house is in the Sumner Lake neighborhood on the north end of Manassas near Fairmont Park. DCW spoke to Chris Hosafolk, who lives next door to the burning home. He hadn't been able to see how much damage his house took from the fire but believes the family inside the house that caught fire got out safely.

"It's scary, here today gone tomorrow," said Hosafolk. "I think everybody got out, thank God."

Neighbors said they were grateful the firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading, because houses in this neighborhood stand close together.

Firefighters will investigate the cause of the fire once the scene is fully under control.
