Suspect turns themselves in for Baltimore County fatal hit and run

UPDATE: The suspect in this case has turned themselves into police and been identified. Charges are pending.

BROOKLANDVILLE, Md. — Police are searching for a driver and their SUV after a man was killed in a fatal accident off a ramp on the northbound Jones Fall Expressway around 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

The victim is Ramon J. Purvey, 30 , of Owings Mill, Md. He was found dead on the ground outside of his damaged Mazda 3, which was parked on the shoulder of the ramp. Police believe that the suspect vehicle struck the Mazda and Purvey before speeding away and fleeing the scene.

No details about the driver are known at this time, but the suspect vehicle has been identified as a blue BMW X5, year of make possibly between 2000 and 2003, with Pennsylvania tags. The vehicle is likely damaged on the passenger front and side, with a possible missing or dangling side mirror.

The vehicle was last seen driving erratically on the outer loop of I-695 and exiting onto northbound Stevenson Road. An overnight search failed to locate the vehicle.
