Germantown resident shoots attempted burglar

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. -- A suspect in an attempted burglary is in serious condition in the hospital today after the resident of the home discharged a firearm, police say.

A resident reportedly fired a gun in the 11700 block of Tall Pines Drive in Germantown, after reporting a burglary in progress around 2:11 this morning.

Fire and rescue took the suspect to the hospital. Police are continuing to investigate.
