HOWARD COUNTY, Md. — Animal control is asking for help finding the person responsible for starving a pit bull puppy and abandoning it inside of a storage container with holes drilled in the top.

The puppy was found on March 25 in Columbia, in a neighborhood on Braeburn Road. A neighbor found the puppy, which was so malnourished it couldn’t stand or move, had open wounds and missing fur and was covered in urine and feces.

“Eddy” as he was found by the neighbor

An animal control officer responded and took the puppy to a clinic, where they gave him emergency medical care and nicknamed him “Eddy”. They’ve already received multiple requests to adopt the dog once he finishes his recovery process, which will be lengthy.

Investigators are very interested in any information about the dog’s owner and/or the person who discarded him. Anyone with information is urged to call Animal Control at 410-313-2780 or email animalcontrol@howardcountymd.gov.
