D.C. police conduct recovery operation near Key Bridge

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Late Sunday night, D.C. Fire & EMS reported that they were searching for a missing person in the Potomac River near the Key Bridge. They say now that the search has turned into a recovery mission handled by the Metropolitan Police Department.

According to officials, the search started late Sunday night and extended into early Monday morning, and crews searched both the water and the shoreline. K-9 units also arrived to help find the missing person. Fire officials are now calling it a recovering operation.

Officials say that the Metropolitan Police Department is now the lead agency on the operation.

There is no information on the identity of the missing person.
