PRINCE GEORGE’S CO., MD — The Board of Education approved resolutions Tuesday in support of immigrant, Muslim, and transgender youth in Prince George’s County.

The resolutions approved will protect students’ rights and will provide a “safe and welcoming learning environment for all students.”

“Our schools will continue to be places of respect and support for all students,” said Dr. Kevin M. Maxwell, Chief Executive Officer. “We will continue to cultivate environments that celebrate diversity and promote inclusiveness.”

In the press release, the PGCPS school board says the policies and administrative procedures comply with federal, state and local civil rights laws and prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, transgender identity or religion.
