UPDATE: Police searching for suspects in two assaults near Kenilworth Park

WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. Park Police is searching for suspects in two separate assaults that happened on the Anacostia River Trail, in Northwest, Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the first assault was a stabbing that happened around 2:30 p.m. when a hispanic man, who was running on a bike path was attacked. The man was stabbed multiple times including once in his head. He was flown to the hospital with life threatening injuries. Police say the suspect is a black male, about 20 years old, 5’10” tall, and was wearing a green jacket and dark colored pants. He was last seen running north on the trail.

Then four hours later another assault. Police say another hispanic man who was on the Anacostia River Trail by the Kelinworth Aquatic Gardens was struck in the head and body in an attempted robbery. That person was rushed to a nearby hospital. No word on the injuries.  Police described this suspect as a black male, about 30 years in age, 5’10” tall, and was wearing colored pants and was not wearing a shirt.

Police do not believe these two cases are linked.
